ABOUT

Shirl Marks is currently the Director of the After School program for Stamping Ground Elementary, with the Scott County Kentucky School system.


Shirl is a member if the First Baptist Church of Stamping Ground, where she currently serves as treasurer.  She has held numerous other positions at the Church including Church clerk, and Sunday School teacher.


Among Shirl’s other current activities, she is the founder if the Jeremy Marks Memorial Scholarship; founder of Stonetown Haven, Inc.; co-founder of the African American Genealogy Group of Kentucky; member and officer of the Historic Boston Committee, serving as the organization’s Historian.


Shirl’s former activities include:  being a former Board of Director’s member at the Georgetown/Scott County Museum, a former member of the Georgetown Scott County NAACP.  Where she served on the Political Action, and Freedom Fund banquet/NAACP Scholarship committees.


Shirl’s dedication to helping children and youth achieve better futures is a passion that grew with the death of her only child, Jeremy.  I want to help the youth live more positive, secure lives.  I feel that my son was blessed, being that he had the love and support that he did.  I want all youth to feel that they are loved and supported.


In her spare time, Shirl enjoys researching history, genealogy and antiquing.
